Dr. Moon Keun Kim Metropolitan University Title: Advancing Smart Building Intelligence through Data-Driven Artificial Intelligence |
Data-driven artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a highly promising method for enhancing the energy efficiency and operational performance of smart buildings. The predictive accuracy of AI models relies not only on the selection of machine learning algorithms but also on the quality of data preparation, feature selection, and comprehension of significant variables.
This lecture introduces a thorough research framework established via several studies on electricity usage, heating energy demand, ventilation efficacy, and solar irradiance forecasting in residential and commercial structures. The proposed framework incorporates correlation analysis, data normalization methods, sensitivity analysis, and multiple artificial neural network models to enhance prediction reliability.
The presentation illustrates how data preprocessing techniques substantially affect model performance and elucidates the significance of feature correlation and impact variables in improving prediction accuracy. Case studies from residential and commercial structures demonstrate the practical implementation of AI in energy forecasting and indoor environmental evaluation. Comparative investigations elucidate the advantages and drawbacks of various neural network topologies across different building operating circumstances.
The keynote ultimately addresses prospective research avenues for explainable, dependable, and scalable AI technologies in smart buildings, highlighting their potential impact on digital twins, intelligent building management, HVAC optimization, renewable energy integration, and carbon-neutral urban environments
